I will be adding more comments from Spitzer as and when I have time and access to the internet. I am sitting here in Mora, Sweden about to go and visit two sawmills.

Spitzer stresses throughout his book that the human brain learns all the time, from experience, and cannot do other than learn. The brain is constantly forming its own rules to deal with the phenomena it encounters through the senses.

We have “learned” to separate school learning (something dull and unpleasant) from the learning we do in the rest of our lives. It should not be that way. As he says, we learn in the brain, not in the classroom.
