The CLIL conference in Eichstaett was fun and interesting. I attach a few pictures of the delightful town, of the participants in the conference, and of the size of my fish, a carp that I was served for lunch. I needed two plates!
The first pictures are of the opening night, where we listened to a very positive presentation about the wonders of Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 (both somewhat fuzzy notions for most) and how language teaching will change. As was so often the case at this conference, we were given a task to do. We were supposed to divide into groups of 5 or 6, and answer questions that we drew at random, and then our partners would give us points. In my little group, one person drew “how have you used podcasts in your classes” and another person was asked “how can Twitter be used in language instruction?” The people who drew these questions were teachers of language teachers. Both had to admit that they did not know what a podcast was, nor what Twitter was.
